Biggleswade FC -v- Beaconsfield Town FC

FC

Venue: Holloways Park

Ram of the match: Troy Silvera

Beaconsfield were below their recent high standards as they lost 1-0 away at Biggleswade FC.

Beaconsfield came out of the blocks quickly and got forwards well in the opening exchanges. Biggleswade struggled to get into the game at first but started to grow into it after the first 5 minutes. Daniel Bond played in Rafal Wielbald whose shot went just wide of the post. Shortly after Beaconsfield keeper Tommy Dymott was caught in possession, giving Bond a shot on an open goal. He made no mistake and fired his side into a 1-0 lead as the clock hit 10 minutes. As the half went on Biggleswade had a chance to extend their lead, striking the bar from a free kick. Beaconsfield has a flurry of attacks but could not find the finishing touch to level the game. The best chance of the half came when Usman Lalustani played in a great ball for Jacques Kpohomouh, his header was just about pushed over the bar. Biggleswade looked to have made it 2-0 just before the break, however the linesman's flag kept the score to 1-0.

After the interval both teams came out looking to get forwards, with Beaconsfield going close to scoring when Joe Lawal found space in the box, only for his shot to be blocked. Beaconsfield started to dominate proceedings and went close to scoring on several occasions, first when Charlie Smith shot just over the bar from the edge of box before substitute Avto Akhsiashvili saw an effort go straight into the keepers' arms. Beaconsfield kept pushing for the equaliser but still lacked a clinical finishing touch to see the ball into the back of the net. The final chance of the game was a great free kick from Akiel Raffie which looked on target for the top corner but was blocked wide by some good defending, the resulting corner didn’t beat the first man as the referee blew the final whistle to see the game end 1-0 to Biggleswade.

Beaconsfield return to action on Bank Holiday Monday, with a short trip to local side Flackwell Heath.
